Crisis: What We Do: Wellbeing
Kirkwall Media:
JPM: Library Music

Research commissioned by Crisis reveals that the average age of death for homeless people is just 47. They often struggle to access the healthcare services that they need.
To improve physical health and wellbeing we run workshops such as Yoga, Karate, Tai Chi and Pilates and counselling services. We hold Health Days at our Crisis Skylight centres, and at Christmas offer our guests a full range of medical services.

Crisis: What We Do: Housing

Helping people into homes they can call their own is an important part of our work at Crisis. It is very difficult for single people to access social housing. Private renting is often their only option.

Mencap: “Stand by Me” Campaign
Director: Katy Sheppard
JPM: Music Composition and Music Library Adaptation

Mencap is running a 3-year campaign challenging the police, the criminal justice system and the courts to end hate crime against people with a learning disability. Was a pleasure to work with Katy Sheppard again to produce films that have been beyond expectation for the Mencap team. One of the films has been shown in Parliament and is one of the hardest hitting films about disability hate crime ever made. Wishing them well and hope the music helps.

Diarrheal and respiratory infections kill over 3.5 million children under the age of five every year. Hand washing with soap is the most effective and an inexpensive way to prevent these deaths. It can save the lives of 1.2 million children every year.

The tippy tap is a low cost, low tech, low water, hands-free device to promote hand washing with soap.

HIV/AIDS ALliance
Director: Andrew Hinton

The vision of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance is a world in which people do not die from AIDS. The International HIV/AIDS Alliance has been working in Latin America and the Caribbean since 1993. In this video Alliance Linking Organisations and people living with HIV talk about how the Alliance helps organisations to share knowledge and learning across the region.

With support from the UK Department for International Development (DFID) through the LA Partnership Programme Arrangement (LAPPA), the Alliance was able to fund its work both at country and regional level in LA since 2005. The first phase of LAPPA funding lasted from 2005 to 2008; the second phase started in 2008 and ended in 2010. Untied to any particular programme or project, funding from LAPPA allowed the Alliance to focus on working with Key Populations in the region; it also allowed the Alliance, particularly during the second phase to contribute to the achievement of Universal Access to HIV prevention, testing, care and treatment services, placing particular emphasis on promoting the inclusion of marginalised communities which also carry the burden of the epidemic in LA. This short film presents the main findings of an internal Alliance LAPPA review (2008-2010) to external stakeholders.

Ah yes the ping of the bell! The clatter of the chain! The screech of the tyres! Well the last sound we couldn’t get because the traffic outside was too noisy, but we got just about everything else. Love these guys and wish them well in everything they do which is, in a nutshell, promote environmental awareness through bicycle power and workshops.
